Great post from Samuel King Partner at .Implementing panel strategies for Construction, Engineering, FM, ICT, and Professional Services has become common and standard practices for many organisations. However a panel strategy effectiveness and value can rapidly dissolve if the following 5 considerations are not tested or clearly designed:1. Panel vs Preferred Partner - aligning your forward demand profile to the right supplier engagement strategy. 2. What is the right number and mix of suppliers to stimulate completion and continue appetite for work.3. What is the panel engagement process to ensure project speed to market.4. What are the panel rules to business user agility to allocate work based on supplier performance and capacity.5. What mechanisms are in place to manage both panel and supplier performance. Please reach out directly for a chat if you're keen to explore how to improve the effectiveness of your panel strategy.Shane#procurement #procurementleaders #supplychain

Great insight Samuel and agree with panels needing to be open.Interestingly government panels are set up as the first phase in the procurement process i.e. validation, with the secondary procurement activity to then come from the panel to select the correct supplier for an agencies needs, via a simplified process, not a full open RFP.This means government panels must have a wide range of suppliers for each panel category, based on the openness requirements for government procurement rules, and then you go out to a selection from that panel category.Being on a government panel is never a guarantee of work, the supplier still needs to sell themselves to individual agencies! But if they aren't on the panel, they won't ever win work.I honestly don't see the need for a private sector company to set up a panel, as they don't have the complexity of government procurement or legislation requiring for open procurement processes.Private sector have ability to use preferred suppliers, and leverage volume to get improved pricing and performace, managed by effective supplier management practices. At the end of the day, it comes down to how well a panel is administered and the processes for accessing the panel, as to how effective it is.

How life-anchor healthy habits can help us strive as leaders and as teams! This week I celebrated a health milestone of losing 15 kg since Easter (3months), although I’m happy to have dropped the weight what was more pleasing was my re-commitment to attend to my health life-anchors. What Is a life-anchor? A health life-anchor is something we identify and attend to that makes us happy, that energises us, and it doesn’t need to be fitness related, it can be learning a language, playing your musical instrument, gardening, reading a book or painting. Your ability to identify your 2-3 health life-anchors, prioritise and attend to them will go a long way in helping you show up each day as the best version of you!Leadership responsibilityAs leaders we have a responsibility to our own selfcare and to prioritise and attend to the wellbeing of our team, attending to your own and your teams health life-anchors is a positive way to bring together both intent and action in leading with wellbeing front of mind. As leaders we need to be curious, we need to understand what are the important healthy life-anchors of our team members and how can we as a team best support each other in committing to selfcare and healthy habits. I truly believe, Healthy teams, are Happy teams, and are High Performing teams! Finally, the key is to keep it simple and achievable, no more than 2-3 anchors – consistency and quality is more important than quantity.Good luck, live better and lead better!Shane 🙂 #selfcare #wellness #leadership #anchors #mentalhealth

Thank you to Australian Water Association for the opportunity to write an article of passion. The Australian Water and Power Utility sectors face unparalleled challenges, growing population, ageing infrastructure, supply chain volatility, and the need to move towards renewable energy solution. These challenges provide an opportunity to re-think methods of construction and procurement. Many water utility organisations have already moved towards more collaborative procurement and modern methods of construction, hopefully this article might encourage other organisations to follow this path forward.Shane#procurement #infrastructure #supplychain #awa #water #power #supplychain #purposedriven https://lnkd.in/gZm3UFa8

In modern-day procurement "Agility" is the key to success. The OCM Agile Procurement and Supply Chain Framework is a flexible and collaborative approach to procurement that focuses on outcomes, our framework achieves this by: - ability to adapt the procurement approach through a number of methods depending on the project - infrastructure, ICT Procurement, or Goods and Services Procurement.- ability to quickly and easily move through the framework that considers the value and risk of the procurement project.Agility is present in all aspects of our framework, not just sourcing - category management, SRM, contract management and supply chain operations framework have all been designed with "Agility" as the key design principle. For more information, please visit www.ocm.net.au or reach out directly to Shane Lamont - MCIPS, or Samuel King at .#procurement #procurementleaders #supplychain #agileprocurement #infrastructure #infrastructureprojects #purposedriven #ocm

Thank you to and Charlotte Payne for providing a wonderful MCIPS experience, however also my apology for not prioritising my MCIPS sooner. As an industry we need to continue to elevate procurement as a Thought Leader and Strategic Profession, this change can be achieved by increasing the number of MCIPS certified procurement professionals. As a procurement professional and leader it did take me too long to change my thoughts on the value of procurement professionals gaining MCIPS.However now I believe no matter where you are in your procurement and supply chain career, there is definitely self-value and value to the procurement profession in gaining MCIPS accreditation. Please give it some thought, and thank you everyone for your support!Shane
