Game Information

The Colorado Lottery sells tickets for popular multi-state games Mega Millions and Powerball. Colorado is also one of the select lotteries offering the Powerball Double Play add-on. Double Play costs $1 more and gives a second chance for your numbers to win in a separate draw with cash prizes of up to $10 million.

CO residents can also purchase tickets for a variety of great in-state draw games:

Colorado Lotto

Lotto is Colorado's very own jackpot game. In operation since 1989, it offers residents the chance to win a rolling jackpot worth a minimum of $1 million. Each $2 ticket also comes with a multiplier that increases non-jackpot prizes by up to 5x. Draws take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 7:35 PM. Add the Plus option for $1 more and your numbers will be entered in a second drawing with a top prize of $250,000.

Pick 3

Pick 3 has two draws daily with the chance to win prizes of up to $500 on a $1 wager. The Midday draw takes place at 1:36 PM every day and the Evening draw follows at 7:36 PM. Pick 3 is the state's only draw game with a selection of wagers, and there are also a range of fun bet types.

Cash 5

Cash 5 gives players the chance to win a top prize of $20,000 every day of the week! Drawings are held nightly at 7:35 PM and tickets cost just $1 per line. Players select five numbers from 1 to 32. To win the top prize, you'll have to match all five numbers drawn.

Other Games

Scratch games are a great choice for those who want the chance to be rewarded right away! These games can be purchased from authorized Colorado Lottery retailers and have a price range from $1 to $20. The higher the price of the ticket, the greater the amount and value of the prizes you could win.

History of the Colorado Lottery

The Colorado Lottery was established on July 1st, 1982 in order to provide funding for the state's Conservation Trust Fund as well as state parks, outdoor recreation initiatives and construction projects. The first game, a scratchcard, went on sale in January 1983. Sales far outpaced initial expectations and the first lottery drawing was held on April 23rd of that same year.

Lotto, the state's first jackpot game, was launched in 1989 and the Colorado Lottery began selling Powerball tickets in August 2001. Mega Millions tickets went on sale in Colorado on May 16th, 2010.

Lotto was adapted in September 2019, as the number of balls to pick from went down from 42 to 40 - improving the odds of winning the jackpot. Lotto Plus was also introduced, creating more ways to win prizes. A third weekly draw was later added in September 2023.

The Colorado Lottery is set to continue operating until 2024, and given its popularity among residents, they won't need to worry about that upcoming deadline!

You must be at least 18 years old to play Colorado Lottery games.
